Candace Tschirki is undertaking a sizable feat. She wants every student at South Campus to give 15 minutes of community service each day, amounting to 28,000 hours each week and $202,000 of service at minimum wage. "I would like to see the school embrace a community of service," said Tschirki, a 48-year-old education major.

Many students are unaware of these FCCJ graduation requirements, but before you hit the panic button; FCCJ provides various tools to prepare students for both the CLAST (the College-Level Academic Skills Test) and the ILAS (Information Literacy Assessment).
The Florida Bright Futures program, a popular scholarship awarded to over 160,000 students, will undergo significant changes soon. New legislation would require students reimburse the state for dropped classes, take more college credits per year, and pay for any tuition increases or fees that are implemented by their university.
The 12th Annual danceWORKS Spring Dance Concert opened March 26 with a bang. This year's performance stood apart from the past years because of the focus on local dance talent and artists. The performance was diverse showcasing some of Jacksonville's and FCCJ's best dancers in ballet, modern, ballroom, and Bollywood dancing.
FCCJ provides a way for students to lighten the financial burden of college with the convenience of work study jobs. Eligibility for a position relies on the completion of a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form and enrollment in at least 6 credit hours.
