College work-study jobs available available

FCCJ provides a way for students to lighten the financial burden of college with the convenience of work study jobs. Eligibility for a position relies on the completion of a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form and enrollment in at least 6 credit hours.

Financial need is determined by subtracting the Expected Family Contribution (EFC), calculated by FAFSA, and other aids and benefits from the cost of tuition fees.

Jennifer Sombutmai, a learner support specialist at the Urban Resource Center, suggests that once a FAFSA is on file, a student should go to the Career Development Center and fill out a work application; after, they can set a date for a required interview.

Hourly paid, part-time jobs both on and off campus are available through Federal Work Study (FWS) to allow students the opportunity to have a source of income that will help cover educational expenses.

Academic progress, class schedule, and award amounts are all considered before work hours are assigned, and the amount an employee is paid reflects the level of skill required for a particular job. Job listings are now available online at:
